3 steps to a better hearing

Fortunately, there are many ways to help people with a hearing loss.

Most people with a hearing loss can benefit from hearing instruments. Although, even the most advanced hearing instruments cannot fully restore your hearing, they can improve it considerably and thereby improve your quality of life.

Doing something about diminished hearing isn’t that difficult. The following three steps describe the procedures from the day you suspect your hearing is fading.

Step 1
Who to contact
If you suspect your hearing could be diminished, go to one of three types of professionals:

  • Medical specialist, such as an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor
  • Hearing Care Professional, who may also be called an audiologist or hearing aid dispenser. Find a local hearing centre here
  • General practitioner

The Hearing Care Professional will do a complete hearing test to determine your hearing loss.

Step 2
Finding the right solution
After determining the exact nature of your hearing loss, your Hearing Care Professional can present you with various solutions.

Your lifestyle and personal preferences will be considered, to make sure you get the solution that best fits your style and way of living.

Step 3
The final fitting
Once you have selected the instrument best suited to your hearing loss and lifestyle, it will be adjusted to you. Your Hearing Care Professional will:

  • Measure your ears to make sure your hearing aid will fit you perfectly
  • Adjust your hearing aid to give you the best possible sound experience
  • Instruct you in how to use your instrument in your daily life
