How to pair your hearing aids with a computer

You can connect your PC to your hearing aids, to stream audio and have video or audio calls.

Newer Windows computers that support Bluetooth® LE Audio can pair with modern Oticon hearing aids that also support Bluetooth LE Audio. 

Most iPads and Macs can pair with Oticon hearing aids using Made for iPhone (MFI) technology. 

Selected Android phones and tablets can pair with Oticon hearing aids using Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) technology.

    If you have hearing aids that support LE Audio, but do not have a computer that supports it, you can stream audio via the Easy LE Adapter.

    For older computers or older Oticon hearing aids, you will need a ConnectClip accessory to connect your hearing aids to your computer.

    How to pair your hearing aids directly to a computer

    Note: Your hearing aids must support Bluetooth LE Audio.

    Your computer must be running Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer. 

    Your computer needs to have Bluetooth LE Audio support enabled by the manufacturer of the PC.

    Bluetooth LE Audio is not supported on Windows 10 or Windows 11, version 21H2. Some Windows 11 computers that currently do not support LE Audio may gain support for it in the future through operating system software updates from the manufacturer.

    You can check for LE Audio support on computer by doing the following:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth and Devices.
    2. Select Devices and go to Devices Settings.
    3. Look for a checkbox titled Use LE Audio when available. Ensure this setting is turned on to use LE Audio. If this setting is not available, your PC does not currently support LE Audio.

    Restart your hearing aids.

    Restart your hearing aids by placing them in the charger and removing them again. Your hearing aids will now be in pairing mode for the next three minutes. Your PC will now be able to detect your hearing aids via Bluetooth.

    Turn on Bluetooth.

    Turn on Bluetooth on your Windows 11 computer or laptop. Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices and turn on Bluetooth.

    Pair your hearing aids.

    In the same menu on your computer (Start > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices) click the button marked Add Device. Select the name of your hearing aids from the list of available devices to connect. You are now ready to stream audio and make hands-free calls.

    How to connect your hearing aids when a pairing already exists.

    Once your hearing aids have been paired with your Windows 11 PC, you can connect to them in three ways:

    1. Your hearing aids may automatically connect when you turn on your PC.

    2. You can connect using Quick Settings:

    Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons next to the time and date on the taskbar's right side.
    Click on the Bluetooth tile and select your hearing aids from the list of pairing devices to connect.

    3. You can manually connect to your hearing devices through Windows Settings. In Settings > Bluetooth & Devices, click on Connect.

    Note:

    Call handling using the buttons or tapping your hearing aid is not supported when connected to a PC. To accept or end calls, you must use your computer. The buttons on your hearing aid will adjust volume. 

    Your hearing aids must support Bluetooth LE Audio. Your computer must be running Windows 11 version 24H2 or later. Your computer must have Bluetooth LE Audio support enabled by the manufacturer.

    How to pair your computer with Easy LE Adapter

    First, you need to pair the Easy LE Adapter with your hearing aids.

    Note: Your hearing aids must support Bluetooth LE Audio to work with the Easy LE Adapter. 

    Your computer must have a USB-C port to use the Easy LE Adapter. If your computer does not have a USB-C port, you can use a third-party adapter such as a USB-C to USB-A adapter. However, not all third-party adapters are guaranteed to work.

    Enjoy audio from your PC.

    Once the pairing is complete, you are ready to stream audio with the Easy LE Adapter. The Easy LE Adapter needs to be plugged into the device you are using. The Easy LE Adapter will remain paired to your hearing aids even if it is removed from your PC, tablet or smartphone and plugged into a new device. You can use your LE Adapter with all your compatible devices. 

    Note: Your hearing aids can only connect to one LE Adapter at a time. Call handling via push-buttons or tapping on the hearing aid is not supported while using the adapter. Accept the call through the application you are using on the computer.

    How to stream audio from your computer using ConnectClip

    Ensure ConnectClip is powered off.

    Press and hold the multi-button for approximately six seconds until the power indicator is off.

    Turn your hearing aids off.

    • For hearing aids with disposable batteries, open the battery drawer
    • For rechargeable hearing aids, turn them off by pressing the lower button of each hearing aid for three seconds

    Turn your hearing aids on.

    • For hearing aids with disposable batteries, close the battery drawer
    • For rechargeable hearing aids, turn them on by pressing the lower button of each hearing aid for two seconds

    Your hearing aids are now ready for the first connection with the ConnectClip. You now have three minutes to complete the pairing.

    Turn ConnectClip on.

    Press and hold multi-button for approximately three seconds, until power indicator shows steady green.

    ConnectClip will now search for your hearing aids. The status indicator will blink yellow.

    Establish a connection.

    Place ConnectClip close to your hearing aids, at a maximum distance of 20 cm.

    A successful connection is indicated by the status indicator showing steady yellow.

    Next, connect the ConnectClip to your PC

    Turn on your ConnectClip.

    Place the ConnectClip into Bluetooth pairing mode by pressing the multi-button AND volume up buttons together and holding for approximately six seconds.  You will see the status light blink blue.

    Go to your computer’s Bluetooth menu.

    Select ConnectClip and connect to it.

    A successful connection is achieved when the status indicator on the ConnectClip shows steady blue.
